Rotary Club of Goksu, Turkey

Our relationship with the Rotary Club of Goksu in Istambul, Turkey came about in a different way. We have members who have been influential in setting up an annual Rotary ANZAC tour of Turkey & Galipoli. In doing this, they have enjoyed the support & friendship of the Goksu Club. This friendship has developed into a formal sister club relationship.

A Rotary Goksu welcome for a group of Australian Rotarians on an ANZAC tour

The Rotary Club of Goksu is a relatively young club having been chartered in November, 2000 within Rotary district 2420 in Western Turkey. The club has 30 members with similar numbers of men and women. The membership represents an incredibly varied range of professions from nuclear physics and various fields of engineering through business, finance and industry to pharmacy, dentistry and medicine

Every year since 2002, RC Goksu has hosted Australian Rotarians (some 60 in all) during April and May, first of all in Istanbul and then at the  ANZAC Commemorations at Gallipoli and Lone Pine.

Two teams of Rotarians from Goksu have visited Australia and been hosted by RC Balwyn & other Clubs in D9800 and NSW. RC Goksu has also hosted Australian Rotarians passing through Istanbul.

After five years of co-operation between the Rotary Clubs of Goksu and Balwyn, a sister club agreement was signed, formalising the close relationship between the clubs.

RC Goksu has also partnered with RC North Balwyn (Australia) and RC Balwyn (Australia) in the ‘Adopt a Village’ MG project at Tulagi, Solomon Islands, Pacific
