To all Club Members.

Please note the Club is to be charged more for the Tuesday dinner fees due to increased costs Eastern Golf Club has had to bear. With this, we are promised a better quality meal.  I believe a better quality meal has happened over the last two meetings.  President Bill will announce the Board's policy next week as to how the Board has responded to the increase in fees and the implications on Members.

In the past, Eastern GC has not charged the Club when persons do not show on the Tuesday night for their meals.  The number of "no shows" unfortunately has increased and Eastern cannot absorb this cost any more.  As of the start of this year the Eastern GC is now charging our Club a fee for "no shows"

Members!  You must now be more diligent in letting the front desk know your intentions for Tuesday.

Here is a reminder of Member's responsibility.  Some Members may not be aware of the system!  It goes like this:

Philip Lambers (Attendance officer) assumes all Members are attending the Tuesday night dinner.  Full 100% attendance!  If no one tells Philip by noon Monday prior, then Philip tells Eastern that 92 dinners (current Membership enrollment) are to be catered for.  Eastern buys up supplies and sets the tables for 92 people.  It's simple!

If you cannot attend a Tuesday night meeting then let Philip know by NOON Monday prior. Use website, phone   0439 344 407 or talk to him at the meeting before.

  • What if you are away more than three meetings in a row?  Well, apply to the Board for a leave of absence for that period and the Secretary will notify Philip a list of people who cannot attend over the dates you report.  Cannot be easier than this!  So  far all bases are covered.
  • What if you are sick?  If able, talk to Keith Carroll (or Philip).  Keith will send Philip a list of persons who are ill and how long they are likely to be away either in hospital, or home in recovery, or what ever.
  • What if due to chronic illness the Board has agreed to your infrequent attendance?  You may apply to Philip to be a "leave of absence" participant, and call Philip when you are attending a night. Some Members do this.  Honorary Members do this.
  • What if you bring a guest, or if you introduce a speaker? Tell Philip!!!
  • Only Speakershave a free meal paid by the Club. Their friends or family, if joining them must pay for their meal.  Also, TELL PHILIP !!

Club Services committees over the years have been aware of the problems of "no shows" and this year we are going to resort to a new concept which might be embarrassing for some.  In the Bulletin we will introduce "The Shame File".  This will be the naming of those Members who fail to record their absence from the Club.

It will be published weekly .  There will be intrigue among the Club to see who the culprits are, and the Seargent can deal with it as he sees fit!

Kind Regards,

David Jones
